Mimi's Art Studio, 2008

Welcome to Mimi's Art Studio! I hope you are enjoying watching the show as much as I am making it. I love to paint. I love art!

During the course of the first thirteen 30-minute programs, I will be demonstrating painting techniques in watercolors and acrylics. I will explain color, values (the interplay of light and shadow) and composition. Watching the show, I hope you will understand the reason behind the brush strokes and feel free to develop your own creative style. You will see that each painting gains its own energy and from my original vision, the work may evolve into something quite different. Art is allowing oneself to be open to the possibilities - let your brush strokes take you where they may.

I particularly like to paint landscapes. Sometimes I will be in my studio working from a photograph or a sketch that inspires me and other times I will take you into the field showing you a site or master painting that I find beautiful.

• After April 5th it will be airing on Saturdays at 2 p.m.
on WSBE Rhode Island PBS, broadcast

I will also be introducing you to other artists and their work. I will be asking them where they find their inspiration. It is so fascinating to me.

Creating gives me joy and happiness. It is my hope that you are inspired to pick up a paintbrush, or make music, or create in what ever way makes you happy!

As Martin Ritt once said "Art! You just do it."

About The First Series (13 Episodes):

While she demonstrates techniques in acrylics and watercolor, Mimi's aim is to draw her audience into the creative process, sharing her joy in art and in the world
around us.

The show focuses on creativity and appreciation of the fine arts. We see this in Mimi's conversations with other artists and visits to museums and galleries.
